Directly after roasting, the beans are packaged in one-way valve bags so neither air nor moisture can enter; yet gases emitted from the fresh beans are allowed to escape. Storage In order to protect the coffee from becoming stale, all coffee should be kept away from heat, light, air and moisture. All bags should have a description of the coffee, the weight, grind and the 'roasted on' date. Ground coffee: due to it's volatility coffee loses it's freshness quicker than beans, hence the preference for supplying whole beans and encouraging customers to purchase their own domestic grinders. Freshness Our coffee is roasted fresh, and to order. Ideally espresso coffee should be consumed within 3-14 days from roasting. Pre-ground retail packs of coffee should be treated as a fresh food product. We deliver weekly and prefer to deliver smaller quantities more frequently, rather than compromising the quality of the coffee. Grind Plunger coffee is ground coarser than espresso coffee. First, pre-heat the Plunger & brew the coffee in your plunger for 3-5 minutes. Break the crust of grounds that forms on the surface before plunging to allow the rich aromas of fresh coffee to be released. A smaller particle size for espresso or stove-top espresso simply allows the coffee to be compacted into a puck to provide resistance against pressurised hot water, resulting in a more concentrated extraction of coffee. Coffee Blends We have created 5 Blends which are ideal for espresso coffee - Brazilian Blend, Northern Italian, Southern Italian, Trail Street Blend, Supreme Roast & Organic. They are great as an espresso but also hold their body and flavour when milk is added. Our European Blend is our 'Multi Award Winning' plunger coffee. - the longer brewing time highlighting the nuances in flavour, and ideally should be consumed black.
